How to Treat Snoring and Sleep Apnea

Not everyone reports that they snore, and not everyone who snores realizes that it may indicate a more serious problem, known as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Snoring is often caused by mouth and throat tissues partially blocking the airway; OSA results when these tissues completely block the airway, causing you to periodically stop breathing in your sleep. Fortunately, Dr. Hamidi may be able to help you stop snoring and treat sleep apnea with a comfortable, custom-designed oral appliance.

At Your Appointment

To determine if snoring indicates sleep apnea, Dr. Hamidi may recommend that you seek a professional assessment from a sleep expert. If you are diagnosed with OSA, then a custom oral appliance may be a less restrictive option than the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine that a sleep expert may prescribe.
